FloCombat ranks the top 20 North American heavyweight MMA prospects for July 2018.

Rankings based off the following...

  • North American fighters only. For example, Thiago Moises wouldn't qualify for these rankings despite training in the U.S.
  • No fighters that have fought for or who are set to fight for the UFC.
  • Fighters competing on Dana White's Contender Series included.
  • No long-term Bellator fighters or champions. Exceptions for some preliminary fighters.
  • All fighters aged 30 and under.
  • Rankings based off age, record, and level of competition.

#1 – Adam Dyczka (7-0, NC) 

Dyczka defeated Icho Larenas at TKO 43 to keep his undefeated record intact. The 27-year-old Canadian faces Cyril Gane Aug. 2 at TKO Fight Night 1. 

#2 – Tanner Boser (12-4) 

The Canadian picked up a unanimous decision victory over UFC/Bellator veteran Chase Gormley at ACB 88. The 26-year-old fighter has now gone 6-2 in his last eight fights. 

#3 – Jeff Hughes (9-1) 

The 29-year-old LFA champion Hughes defeated Maurice Greene by unanimous decision at LFA 38 on April 27 and is set to face Bellator veteran Josh Appelt July 24 at Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series.

#4 - Dontale Mayes (4-2) 

Mayes defeated our previously No. 9-ranked heavyweight Mohammad Usman on April 14 to push his record to 4-2. Mayes now faces No. 20-ranked Mitchell Sipe July 31 at Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series.

#5 – Justin Frazier (10-2)

Frazier is coming off a first-round submission victory over Reggie Cato at Pyramid Fights 6.

  • Chris Birchler has been removed from the rankings due to age (31). 
  • Greg Hardy enters the rankings in the No. 18 spot after defeating Austen Lane
