Cage Titans 41 brought The Ultimate Fighter finalist Joe Giannetti head-to-head with undefeated Josh Harvey—and the result was surprising to all.

The 23-year-old Whitman native Giannetti ran through the competition on the last season of The Ultimate Fighte, before dropping his finale bout against Mike Trizano via decision. Despite only having one fight under the UFC banner, the promotion released Giannetti, sending him back to the proving grounds.

Not wanting to waste any time or to bask in his sorrow, Giannetti once again upped with Cage Titans—the promotion which guided him into the big show in the first place.

Standing in Giannetti’s way in his return fight was Maine’s Josh Harvey, who proved to be no easy test for the submission specialist.

The main event was closely contested, with Harvey controlling much of the fight from the top position while Giannetti threw up his vintage submissions from the bottom.

When the final bell sounded, the fight went to the judges’ decision. Many in attendance believed the relatively unknown Harvey had done enough to pull off the victory. Unfortunately for him, only one of the three meaningful opinions in the arena agreed.

The judges ruled the bout a majority draw, with one judge scoring the bout 29-28 Harvey.

Originally a title fight, neither man left with the belt Saturday evening.

In the co-main event, Cage Titans staples Dan Dubuque and Johnny Campbell threw down in another closely contested tilt. Like the main event, the judges disagreed on the final decision, with two ruling the bout in favor of the winner Dubuque.

Earlier in the evening, Danielle Hindley battled Canadian Alyssa Krahn in a wild 128-second affair. Fighting back from adversity, Krahn escaped a tight Hindley submission to secure her own finish in emphatic fashion. Krahn put her opponent out cold, halting Hindley's winning streak and her hype train for the time being in the process.

While there were loud ovations for many of the fighters on the evening’s card, none was louder than for surging Joe Lauzon underling Randy Costa (3-0).

The 24-year-old fighter promised to “send it” on fight night, and he did just that in the form of two vicious body blows. Backing his opponent Chris Thorne up against the cage, Costa landed consecutive punches to the torso, crumpling his foe to the canvas.

Another win, another first-round finish for Costa, who now improves to 3-0 as a pro.
