Behind The Dirt: The Bermudez Triangle

After weeks of bickering on social media, two of the UFC’s brightest young up-and-comers are expected to square off inside the UFC Octagon.

Exciting undefeated 135 pounders Manny Bermudez (13-0) and Benito Lopez  (9-0) will clash Jan. 26 at UFC 233 in Anaheim, sources tell FloCombat.

A former Cage Titans champion, Bermudez has impressed thus far in his UFC career. In his promotional debut, Bermudez stayed true to his nickname, The Bermuda Triangle, submitting crafty veteran Albert Morales via guillotine choke.

His sophomore outing was even more imposing. The Abington, Massachusetts, native trucked The Ultimate Fighter veteran Davey Grant with a vicious punch before submitting the British fighter by – you guessed it – triangle choke.

His opponent, Team Alpha Male’s Lopez, hasn’t competed since December of 2017.

Also only 24 years of age, Lopez has thrilled in his two mainstream MMA appearances.

On Season 1 of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, Lopez defeated Steven Peterson via unanimous decision. Despite the bout going the distance, the excitement level that carried throughout the fight earned Lopez a UFC contract from Dana White.

Months later in his UFC debut, Lopez defeated the aforementioned Albert Morales.
