UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor recently said that he will return to the Octagon when the price is right.
If a new report is any indication, that return may be to the boxing ring.
While mixed martial arts fans are clamoring for McGregor to return to the cage and defend his UFC lightweight title, a report from Sky Sports indicates “Notorious” could be more interested in another dip into the sweet science.
Per Jim White, McGregor and boxing great Manny Pacquiao are working on negotiations to fight next spring.
In the boxing world, reports tonight Manny Pacquiao -39 later this month - has confirmed he's opened talks to fight Conor McGregor in April next year.— Jim White (@JimWhite) December 8, 2017
If that fight were to happen, McGregor (0-1 boxing) may have to relinquish his UFC belt.
McGregor last scored a victory at UFC 205 in November 2016 when he knocked out Eddie Alvarez to become the 155-pound title holder.
It’s clear that the brash Irishman is chasing the money, and a fight with Pacquiao could set up the rematch that many are expecting with Floyd Mayweather.
McGregor just continues to forge his own path in the combat sports world.
