V3Fights 70 brought undefeated JacksonWink product Chris Brown vs. red-hot vet Thomas Gifford live to FloCombat Saturday, Oct. 20. Here's what went down.

In the night's main event, the 2-0 JacksonWink product Brown took on Gifford (16-7), who came into the fight riding a 6-1 run in his last seven. With back-to-back submission wins over another top prospect in Trey Ogden, many wondered just how far Gifford could ride his hot streak.

The results exceeded even the wildest expectations.

For three rounds, Brown and Gifford traded kicks, punches, knees, elbows, takedowns, and submission attempts, engaging in one of the most entertaining bouts in V3Fights' storied history.

That's not just us saying that, either—V3Fights Talent Relations Manager/Matchmaker Jason Lederfine declared it the best fight ever inside the V3Fights cage immediately following the contest.

Just watch the first 50 seconds of the fight to get a taste.

Yep.

Somehow, Brown survived that early armbar attempt and continued to throw heat with the arm for 15 full minutes.

While both fighters were clearly exhausted, they never backed down, and the result was a beautiful display of heart and determination.

In the end, it was Gifford's night on the scorecards, as he took home a razor-thin split decision and handed Brown his first career loss.

Lederfine is already discussing the rematch, so they may run this one back sooner than later.

Co-Main Event

Brown's JacksonWink teammate, former University of Iowa wrestler Edwin Cooper, Jr., enjoyed some success on the evening, defeating Kellen VanCamp via third-round TKO.

After a perfect amateur career, Cooper made the jump to the pros, and he just kept rolling, using his wrestling to nullify anything VanCamp could throw his way. At the beginning of each round, Cooper threw a few strikes, closed the distance, and secured the takedown.

From there, he maintained top position and ground VanCamp into the canvas. In Round 3, Cooper secured VanCamp's back, fired off some ground-and-pound, and the deed was done.

One fight before Cooper's pro debut, female bantamweights Cameron Pollard and Toni Tallman threw down for three rounds of title-fight action.

While Tallman refused to back down in the fight, it was all Pollard, who scored repeatedly with her more refined stand-up game. Winging an effective 1-2 throughout the contest, Pollard battered Tallman and left no doubt in the judges' eyes who deserved to walk home with gold around her waist.
