Shamrock FC 309 streams live on FloCombat Friday, Sept. 7. Fight card, how to watch right here.
UFC vets Adam Cella and James Bochnovic returned to throw down in the main event of Shamrock FC 309 Sept. 7 on FloCombat. Here are the full results from the stacked event.
With 11 out of 13 fights ending before the final bell, Shamrock FC 309 brought a little something for the violence fiend in all of us, culminating in a high-profile main-event scrap between Cella and Bochnovic.
The hometown fighter Cella enjoyed crowd support aplenty, but Bochnovic wasn't interested in letting him celebrate a storybook homecoming.
While Cella controlled the pace and the action early, the fight hit the mat in Round 1, and Bochnovic went to work.
First, Bochnovic looked for the triangle choke, but Cella slammed his way to safety—or so it seemed. Bochnovic scrambled after the slam and wound up in top position, where Cella promptly gave up his back. From there, it was a textbook finish, as Bochnovic took his time, sunk in the choke, and forced the tap.
With the win, Bochnovic snaps the two-fight losing streak that caused his UFC release and gets back in the winning column. Cella, meanwhile, has his three-fight winning streak halted.
Elsewhere on the card, Evan Elders and Colin Parr made impressive professional MMA debuts, tapping out their foes—Antonio Atkins and KJ Jones, respectively—with relative ease.
On the amateur side, Max Choriev continued to roll, submitting Charles "Chuckie" Brooks with a smooth mounted triangle in Round 1. Choriev entered the bout with plenty of hype, and he certainly delivered, looking dominant in all facets of the game en route to the finish.
Finally, Dustin Ventimiglia returned to the cage after a yearlong layoff that saw him literally battle for his life. After getting crushed by a forklift in a work-related accident, the longtime wrestler and undefeated mixed martial artist fell into a coma and was left with a lengthy, arduous recovery.
Returning to the cage for the first time since the accident, Ventimiglia showed no rust whatsoever, working his opponent Arvin Mills for three rounds before eventually securing the fight-ending choke.
