Tennessee’s top mixed martial arts promotion, Valor Fights, returned for a stacked evening of fights with Valor Fights 48.

The event took place at the Nashville Fairgrounds Arena and featured grappling, Muay Thai and MMA action.

Unfortunate news broke earlier in fight week, as expected undefeated headliner Lindsey Jones (3-0) was forced to pull out of the main event due to injury. The show went on and delivered from top to bottom, per usual.

It was a battle of the first responders in the evening’s main event, as police officer Charlie “C4” Alexander (2-1) took on firefighter Lathon Lawson (0-2).  In one of the first exchanges of the bout, Lawson struck Alexander low, resulting in a point deduction.  Potentially feeling his back was up against the wall, Lawson pressured Alexander at the start of the second round.  That would prove to be his demise, however, as Alexander would lock in a fight-finishing guillotine choke on an attempted Lawson takedown.

Earlier in the night, two of Valor Fights’ finest WMMA combatants threw down in a back-and-forth co-main event.  Both Chel-C Bailey (3-0) and Kelly D’Angelo (2-2) had their moments in the three-round affair. When all was said and done, it was Bailey defeating D’Angelo by a close, but unanimous, decision.

A pair of pro grappling bouts were featured prior to the start of the pro MMA portion of the card. Steven Haag defeated Cory Robinson via 10-minute referee decision, while Bryan Tidwell submitted Keith Olson with an armbar.
