The MMA Road Warrior Tour rolled on with Rumble on the River, LIVE on FloCombat Saturday, Oct. 7.

Featuring a lightweight title fight between Wes Evans and Dylan Smith and a women's flyweight title fight between Fotini Kandris and Angelica Martinez, the event brought plenty of ruckus to round out your Saturday evening.
UFC 216 wasn’t the only thrilling MMA that took place Saturday night.

Over 2,300 miles away from Las Vegas, MMA promotion “Bar Battles” hosted “Rumble on the River," live on FloCombat.  The event took place at Crab Catchers in Little River, South Carolina, and featured a plethora of the region’s best amateur fighters.

The night’s main event was for all the marbles, as Whes Evans (2-2) battled Dylan Smith (2-2) for the Bar Battles Lightweight Championship.  Sometimes in MMA, hyped main events don't meet expectations, but this fight 100 percent exceeded them. The word “decision” wasn’t in either man’s vocabulary, as both men were looked for the finish from the get-go.

The two appeared evenly matched until a brutal Dylan Smith head kick echoed throughout the venue.  Going into full defense mode, Evans retreated, eating dozens of unanswered strikes from the charging Smith.  Just when the bout was about to be stopped, Evans dropped Smith with a haymaker, completely shifting the momentum of the fight.

Hopping into Smith’s guard, Evans began raining down ground and pound but soon found himself stuck in a slick armbar attempt from Smith.  Circling out of the submission, Evans ended up in mount.

Capping off an amazing turn of events, Evans finished the bout with ground-and-pound to become the new Bar Battles Lightweight Champion.

In the night’s co-main event, Angelica Martinez (5-3) threw down with the always game Fotini Kandris (5-3).  The Bar Battles Women’s Flyweight Championship was on the line— and both fighters fought like it.

Martinez and Kandris came out hard from the start, winging punches with no regard for human life.  Martinez utilized her length with her high kicks, while Kandris seemed to want to take the fight to the ground.

After a back-and-forth round, Kandris burst out of the gates with a takedown attempt.  It wasn’t easy, but she finally dragged Martinez to the ground. Moments later, Martinez shot up for a triangle, with the clock winding down in the round. With less than 20 seconds to go, she switched the triangle to an armbar, forcing her opponent to tap with just moments remaining in the round.

With the victory, Martinez is your new Bar Battles Women’s Flyweight Champion.
