V3Fights 74: WSOF Title Challenger, UFC Veteran And More

Saturday night, V3Fights 74 will take place at the Fitz Casino & Hotel in Tunica, Mississippi, featuring some of the area’s toughest pro and amateur fighters.

In the main event, former World Series of Fighting title challenger Teddy Holder makes the second stop on his comeback tour.

After losing a pair of high-profile matchups to David Branch and Shamil Gamzatov in WSOF, Holder parted ways with the promotion in 2016. Following the divergence, Holder dropped his promotional debut at V3Fights 58.

Taking a year off from competition, Tennessee’s Holder redeemed himself in March of 2018, knocking out 14-2 Grady Hurley in 104 seconds at Summit FC 27.

His opponent, Alabama’s James Pirtle, is a high-action big man who is a difficult outing for any fighter. After losing his debut bout for V3Fights in 2013, Pirtle returned three years later, taking out Houston Lantrip in the first round.

Holder isn’t the only fighter on the card with big-stage experience. In the co-main event, UFC veteran Nick Roehrick returns to take on Linc Battee in a light heavyweight collision.

Roehrick, 31, made his UFC debut at the TUF 25 Finale in 2017. Accepting a fight on short notice was difficult enough, but making matters more challenging, Roehrick’s opponent was none other than surging contender Jared Cannonier.

While he lost via third-round TKO, Roehrick put on an incredible display of heart and toughness.

Following the bout, Roehrick was flagged by USADA, handed a one-year suspension, and released from the promotion thereafter. V3Fights 74 will be Roehrick’s first time stepping back into the cage since his UFC fight, and he feels ready to put on a show.

Battee, 36, will look to pick up his first professional win against Roehrick.

Also featured on the professional portion of the card is a lightweight bout between Latral Perdue and Trey Manley.
