The UFC is eyeing a top-tier featherweight matchup for the season three premier of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series on June 18. The promotion is working on a bout between Ring of Combat featherweight champion Bill Algeo (12-3) and UFC veteran Brendan Loughnane (16-3), sources tell FloCombat.

A veteran of FloCombat, Pennsylvania’s Algeo is riding a four-fight win streak with three highlight finishes in that stretch. After defeating Tim Dooling and James Gonzalez to kick off his Ring of Combat tenure, Algeo earned his most notable victory to date, knocking out surging featherweight Scott Heckman with a nasty switch kick.

Coming off a rear-naked choke victory against John De Jesus in his last outing at Ring of Combat 67, Algeo is looking to carry his momentum onto the big stage.

Squaring off with Algeo in front of the UFC brass will be Brendan Loughnane—a fighter looking to make it back to the UFC. Since his one-off with the UFC in 2012 at UFC on FX 6, Loughnane has elevated his game leaps and bounds.

The 29-year-old British featherweight has gone 11-2 since being released, with his only two losses coming via split decision to UFC veterans Tom Duquesnoy and Pat Healy.

Most recently, Loughnane defeated Amaury Junior via leg kicks at Celtic Gladiator 22 in November.
