Report: Paige VanZant vs. Montana De La Rosa Targeted For UFC 236

Pump the brakes. All signs point to Paige VanZant competing at UFC 236 in Atlanta, but maybe not against the opponent we originally thought.

According to a report from Yahoo Esportes (via Ag Fight), Paige VanZant will be taking on Montana De La Rosa at the April 13 card, not her originally scheduled foe Poliana Botelho.

The report states Botelho will remain on the card against an opponent to be announced.

Last week, Brazilian outlet Combate was the first to announce the flyweight booking between Botelho and VanZant.

Despite this intel, sources tell FloCombat the bout was agreed to but never set in stone. Regarding the new booking between VanZant and De La Rosa, sources tell FloCombat the bout isn’t “set” yet, either.

Buzz surrounding a potential matchup between VanZant and De La Rosa initiated after the latter called out the former following her UFC 234 victory in Melbourne.

De La Rosa made quick work of opponent Nadia Kassem, making it clear who she wanted next in the media room following the bout.

Meanwhile, the fan-favorite VanZant made her triumphant return to the UFC Octagon in January, defeating Rachael Ostovich via submission in Round 2.
