Premier MMA Championship streams live to your favorite device Saturday, Feb. 10, at 7:30 PM ET, bringing a prospect-heavy fight card with it.

Going down in Covington, Kentucky, the event offers a glimpse at the future of MMA in Kentucky and Ohio, as 12 of the 13 bouts will be contested between amateur fighters.

In the sole pro bout and the main event, however, Cincinnati's Cody Gabelman faces Michael Shields in bantamweight action.

A Risky Fight For Cody Gabelman?

Gabelman dropped his last fight at Premier MMA Championship 4 due to an unfortunate injury via cut, and now he looks to get back to his winning ways against Shields. Prior to that defeat, Gabelman had won back-to-back fights, one via submission and one via decision, making him a name to keep an eye on in the region.

Meanwhile, Shields enters the fight looking to snap a three-fight losing streak. He suffered two first-round defeats in 2015 then lost via third-round knockout in 2016 before taking all of 2017 off. Now, he returns, and a tough test in Gableman awaits.

While the cards seem to be stacked against Shields here, the pressure likely rests squarely on Gabelman. As the local favorite and the more hyped prospect, he will have plenty to lose in taking on a dangerous veteran like Shields.

Should he lose this fight, he will have a tough road to travel if he wants to get picked up by a major promotion moving forward. That makes it an intriguing -- and dangerous -- bout.

Top Amateur Featherweights Collide For Gold

In the co-main event, the amateur featherweight title is on the line as David Rankin (9-0) throws down against Jake Kools (5-1).

Ranked No. 2 in his division in Kentucky and No. 3 in the U.S. Southeast, Rankin is one to keep an eye on. The 24-year-old fighter rattled off nine straight victories to begin his young MMA career, going to the judges just once during that stretch.

With six knockouts and two submissions to his credit, Rankin has showed that nowhere is safe so long as you're locked in the ring against him.

Kools, however, represents a significant challenge in his own right. The G-Force MMA product is 2-1 under the Premier MMA Championship banner, previously competing in both the lightweight and welterweight divisions.

Now making his featherweight debut, he'll look to build on a 27-second victory at Premier MMA Championship 4 in August 2017 (watch that fight, embedded below).
