Dana White: Robert Whittaker In 'Serious Condition' From Staph Infection
UFC President Dana White gives a startling update on the condition of UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker.
UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker was recently pulled from his scheduled title defense versus Luke Rockhold at UFC 221 in Perth, Australia, on Feb. 10 (h/t ESPN's Brett Okamoto).
At the time of the announcement, no info was given regarding the nature of Whittaker's injury, leaving many to wonder what exactly happened to the 185-pound king.
Speaking with TSN's Aaron Bronsteter following UFC 220 in Boston, UFC President Dana White revealed some more info — and none of it sounds good.
"He had [a] staph infection in his stomach, and from what I understand, it wasn't treated properly and started to eat away parts of his organs," White said. "He's in serious condition, so it's going to be a minute before he's back I think. Hopefully, it turns around quick, but that stuff is life-threatening if not treated."
Dana White says that UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker is in "serious condition" after suffering from a staph infection in his stomach.
