Max Holloway just keeps getting better.

The reigning UFC featherweight champion has been on a streak of destruction on his run to securing his place atop the highly competitive 145-pound fold. "Blessed" earned his first piece of the championship puzzle by folding Anthony Pettis to earn the interim title at UFC 206 last year, then went on to unify the crown by drubbing former divisional king Jose Aldo at UFC 212 back in June.

The 25-year-old scrapper was slated to make his first defense against Frankie Edgar at UFC 218 Saturday night in Detroit, but an injury suffered by "The Answer" left a vacancy to be filled opposite of Holloway in the main event.

And while there were other contenders who raised their hands, it was Aldo who was tapped to step in and run it back with the hard-charging Hawaiian.

The two elites stepped in for the rematch in the main event at UFC 218, and Holloway truly outdid himself in the second go round with the Brazilian.

Holloway and Aldo went toe-to-toe from the opening bell and picked up right where they left off in Brazil. Holloway's pressure set the tone from the jump, but Aldo did a solid job of pushing back with some heavy shots of his own. Nevertheless, the more Aldo chucked back, the more Holloway turned up the heat.

The pace began to take a noticeable effect early in the fourth round as Holloway began to tag up Aldo's face with everything he threw. And he threw a ton.

Although Aldo fought back valiantly, it just wasn't enough as Holloway battered the former king until the referee was forced to step in and bring a stop to the action.

With the win, Holloway has now notched 13-straight victories inside the cage, and validates his title reign with a successful defense under his belt.
