Jessica Rose-Clark wasn’t afraid to take a bout on short notice against Bec Rawlings on Saturday night, and came away with a big win.

The bout served as the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 121 at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia.

Rawlings immediately occupied the center of the cage as Clark circled around the outside. After a minute of exchanging punches on the feet, Rawlings shot for the double-leg to get the fight to the mat. Clark survived and the two women finished the round exchanging punches on the feet.

In the second round, Rawlings controlled action against the cage for the first half of the round. Clark eventually reversed, before circling back to the center of the cage. The two women went back and forth for the remainder of the round.

The third round maintained the moderate pace, with Rawlings and Clark exchanging at range. Rawlings clipped Clark with a right, before unloading one of the biggest flurries of the fight. It continued to be a close fight with both women having their moments in dominant position.

When the final bell rang, Jessica Rose-Clark came away with the win via split decision. (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).

Rawlings (7-7) entered the bout on a two-fight losing streak. Her third loss in a row leaves her UFC future in doubt.

Clark (8-4), meanwhile, was fresh off of a win over Carina Damm at Titan FC 45 in August. She is now looking to build off of the win and continue her climb up the 125-pound ladder.
