UFC 219 has added a high-profile welterweight tilt between No. 11-ranked Kamaru Usman and Emil Weber Meek to its Dec. 30 card in Las Vegas.

MMA Today's Farah Hannoun first reported the news via Twitter, and FloCombat confirmed the news with sources close to the situation.

At 11-1 and riding a 10-fight winning streak including a victory during season 21 of "The Ultimate Fighter," Usman is one of the promotion's hottest welterweight prospects.

Most recently, he obliterated Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist Sergio Moraes via first-round knockout at last month's UFC Fight Night 116 in Pittsburgh, PA, elevating his stock and showcasing another weapon to go with his world-class wrestling pedigree.

Many feel the 30-year-old Usman is on the cusp of title contention, but he'll need to get through Meek to prove it.

Like Usman, Meek is on a nice run inside the cage, winning his last four contests, with three coming via knockout or submission. In his promotional debut, Meek outpointed Jordan Mein at UFC 206 in December, winning a unanimous decision.

Usman vs. Meek joins a solid UFC 219 fight card that is still under construction. Currently, the card boasts:

Dominick Cruz vs. Jimmie Rivera
Cynthia Calvillo vs. Carla Esparza
Louis Smolka vs. Matheus Nicolau
Carlos Condit vs. Neil Magny
Gökhan Sakiv vs. Khalil Rountree
