Coach: CM Punk Awaiting Fight Confirmation For Return
According to coach Duke Roufus, CM Punk is awaiting a fight confirmation for his next bout.
Phil Brooks -- aka CM Punk -- will fight again.
That's the word from Roufusport head coach Duke Roufus, at least.
Taking to Instagram, the standout trainer reposted a photo from UFC lightweight John Makdessi, showing Makdessi and Punk posing for a quick photo-op.
In the caption, Roufus dropped the bomb that both Makdessi and Punk were not just training to stay sharp -- they are awaiting fights.

The caption reads:
"Great #laborday training today with the #roufusport Fight Team. We are pleased to welcome #UFC Lightweight #lebanese #canadian #johnmakdessi and always a pleasure having #cmpunk both of them are awaiting fight confirmations.#mma #usa #america #american #lebanon#canada #worldwide #Repost@johnmakdessi"
Punk is 0-1 in professional MMA competition, losing to Mickey Gall via first-round submission at UFC 203 in Cleveland in September 2016.
Due to Punk's inexperience, his upcoming opponent would have to be somebody similarly green in the sport of MMA.
One suggestion that pops up is Mike Jackson, who was 1-0 as an amateur before fighting Gall in the UFC in his pro debut. Like Punk, Jackson lost via first-round submission.
Matching him with Punk would seemingly be a solid option for the UFC in this scenario. Making matters a little better, Jackson wants the fight, and he's willing to talk some smack for it.
Time will tell, but at a minimum, it seems we have not seen the last of Punk inside the cage.
