UFC 210 Results: Cynthia Calvillo Taps Pearl Gonzales In Third
There's a lot of buzz surrounding Cynthia Calvillo before Saturday night, but the volume will only increase after UFC 210.

The highly touted strawweight came into her tilt with UFC newcomer Pearl Gonzalez with an impressive debut and an undefeated record to her credit. And following her first round submission victory over the Chicago native, that flawless record will remain intact.

Calvillo's forward pressure and high volume output engaged from the jump as she forced Gonzalez into a defensive shell throughout the opening frame. The Sacramento-based fighter brought the fight to Gonzalez at every turn, but drastically shifted the tides with her ground game in the second round. In a fantastic scramble Calvillo went from being fully mounted to taking Gonzalez's back in a matter of seconds.

Once on the back, Calvillo continued to work and finished out a dominate frame with big punches from the mount.

Being down two rounds guaranteed Gonzalez would come out guns blazing, but it wasn't enough. Calvillo hit a leg-pick trip in the early goings and spent the remainder of the round until she locked in the fight-ending rear-naked choke late in the frame.

And while Calvillo is still a few wins out from being in title contention, her peers in the women's 115-pound division should be watching.
