Dillon Danis Signs With Bellator
Dillon Danis is more than just a jiu-jitsu superstar and Conor McGregor's friend and teammate; he's also officially a mixed martial artist.

Per a report from Yahoo Sports' Kevin Iole on Monday afternoon, the Brazilian grappling ace has officially signed on to fight for Bellator. While the Irishman is the standing king of the UFC, Danis is looking to obtain similar results just on a different stage.

"I want to fight the best, just like Conor does," Danis told Yahoo Sports. "We're different people, though we're very like-minded. We set high goals and we aren't afraid to try to achieve. I feel he's the best ever, in my opinion, and so if people want to compare us, well, how could it be bad if you're a basketball player to be compared to Michael Jordan? That's essentially what people would be saying if they compare us.

"I obviously respect what he has accomplished and will accomplish in the future. He's incredible and the aura of confidence he has is amazing. He's a champion for a reason. But I want to go down my own path and do it my way."

The SBG representative is a black belt whose sudden rise has been making serious waves in the grappling world. Danis was recently featured in the main event of Submission Underground on FloGrappling where he defeated rival A.J. Agazarm. His skill set on the ground is certified and dangerous, but it will be interesting to see how his overall game develops when the punches start to fly.

Danis signing to Bellator is just another big move made by the promotion in the past year. Names like Rory MacDonald and Matt Mitrione have come over from the UFC, while a quintet of wresting talents deemed the "Fab Five" have been signed on to develop under the Bellator banner. While there has yet to be an opponent or date announced for his debut, Danis believes he will compete before the end of 2017.

Danis also plans to start his MMA career in the welterweight ranks.
