It was all eyes on the SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow, Scotland last evening as the Russian MMA powerhouse Absolute Championship Berkut (ACB) staged their first ever event in the U.K.

Whiteford overcomes Petshi in the main event

The card was headlined by hometown by Robert Whiteford who returned to the arena for the first time since his amazing KO victory over Paul Redmond at UFC Glasgow in July 2015.

Whiteford walked to the cage with 'The Flower of Scotland' blaring out through the speakers and with the crowd all on their feet. If anyone was expecting things to be the straightforward for the Scot, they were soon thinking otherwise as Petshi proved to be a more than a tricky adversary.

Rounds one and two were extremely close as both traded takedowns and periods in top position without doing any damage. With Whiteford perhaps sensing the fight was close on the cards, in round three he attempted to keep the fight standing and managed to sting the Frenchman with a stiff strike.

With Petshi stunned, Whiteford then took him and down tried to finish the fight with a head and arm triangle, but time disappeared and he gave up on the submission shortly before the final bell. The fight went to the judges and to the relief of the Scottish fans all three judges scored the fight 29-28 to the Scotsman.

Rogers proves again he's a class above

In the co-main event, Michell Adelina became the latest victim of Saul Rogers who dominated the fight from the very first bell. Rogers took his opponent to the mat and then proceeded to take his back. Adelina tried to shake him off with a desperate front face dive, but Rogers stuck to him like glue and eventually sunk in the rear-naked choke to get the tap.

Parke back to winning ways

Normal Parke returned to the cage for the first time after a nine-month layoff and was involved in a highly competitive scrap with Englishman, Andrew Fisher. The fight went all three rounds, but the Northern Irishman seemed to just have the edge in all of them with his persistent takedowns and brutal body kicks. The judges' scorecards all read 30-27.

Best of the rest …

Other impressive performances on the card included IMMAF gold medalist Shoaib Yousaf getting the first win of his professional career with a beautiful armbar submission and Jake Bostwick scoring a beautiful overhand right knockout for Danny Mitchell. Ryan Scope also returned from a two-year exodus to score an impressive KO win over Yusup Umarov.
