Chael Sonnen is a Bellator MMA fighter.
Following the announcement by the promotion the former UFC middleweight and light heavyweight title challenger had signed a multi-year deal, 'The American Gangster' wasted no time in calling out the likes of Tito Ortiz, Wanderlei Silva, Rory MacDonald and Fedor Emelianenko.
Officially unveiled as the latest addition to the Bellator light heavyweight division, Sonnen claimed he'd be willing to fight his way to a title shot where the championship currently resides with Liam McGeary.
Flo Combat reached out to McGeary to get his reaction on Sonnen's signing with the promotion as well as the possibility of fighting him in the near future.
"I'm happy," McGeary said. "It just goes to show Bellator is doing the right things and making the right moves by bringing in big names like Chael Sonnen. He's done great with his career, had a lot of great fight and is a true warrior. It got a little bit tainted with the TRT and the steroid abuse and a couple years ban, but let's hope he's going to turn a new leaf and come in clean.
"It'd be good to see what he can do in the light heavyweight division. It's a stacked division. I'd be more than happy to give him a title shot if he proves himself. He has to fight his way up just like the rest of them. I'll take care of Phil Davis and then hopefully he's had a few fights and we can see what goes on down the road."
