Cuba Wins Big At 2015 AIBA World Championships

CubaÂ’s Johanys Oscar Argilagos Perez dominated Vasilii Egorov of Russia to win the light flyweight gold. At just 18-years-old, Perez was the youngest champion crowned at the Championships.
On the other end of the age spectrum for CubaÂ’s Domadores was 26-year-old Julio Cesar La Cruz, who was the oldest gold medalist during the tournament, beating Irish light heavyweight Joe Ward to retain his title.
The average age of the 10 champions crowned was 23.
MoroccoÂ’s Mohammed Rabii, who dominated defending welterweight champion Daniyar Yeleussinov of Kazakhstan, and IrelandÂ’s Michael Conlan, who defeated Murodjon Akhmadaliev of Uzbekistan at Bantamweight, turned in historic performances, winning their countryÂ’s first ever AIBA Worlds gold medals.
Cuba scored the most gold medals with four, with Russia claiming two, and Azerbaijan, France, Ireland and Morocco winning one each.
