UFC 215 has just lost its main event.

The flyweight title fight between Demetrious Johnson and Ray Borg has been scrapped less than 48 hours before the event gets started Saturday at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Canada.

According to sources speaking to FloCombat on Thursday evening, Borg fell ill and was not cleared to compete on the card on Saturday night. The news was first reported by MMAFighting.com.

With Johnson vs. Borg scrapped, the women's bantamweight title fight between Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko has been bumped to the main event slot.

As of now there's no word on when Johnson vs. Borg will be rescheduled. Sources indicated that conversations are ongoing for the fight to potentially get moved to UFC 216 on Oct. 7 in Las Vegas, although that's far from a done deal at this point.

It's an unfortunate twist of fate for Johnson, who was looking to set an all-time record for title defenses in the UFC with his 11th consecutive victory as flyweight champion.

Now it appears he'll have to wait until a later date when Borg is healthy for the fight to be rescheduled.
