Driller Promotions: No Mercy VI - Chico Camus vs. Andrew Whitney Preview
In 2015, Chico Camus lost three of four bouts and received the call no UFC fighter wants to receive; following a loss to top UFC flyweight contender Kyoji Horiguchi, he was cut.

In his eight-fight stint under the UFC banner, the then-30-year-old Camus had fought a who's who of the best fighters the flyweight division had to offer, including Henry Cejudo, Brad Pickett, and the aforementioned Horiguchi.

Many would may have gotten discouraged, lost motivation, or given up altogether, but not Camus. Since that time, the veteran American fighter has been on a tear, winning three straight fights against solid competition in the RFA and LFA promotions. On Saturday night, Camus returns to action for Driller Promotions, looking to extend his winning streak to four.

Camus (17-7) will step into the cage at No Mercy VI live on FloCombat as he takes on former Titan FC fighter Andrew Whitney (14-5) in a fight that could easily take place under the UFC banner.

Whitney has won four out of his last five bouts, most notably defeating Anderson dos Santos at Titan FC 40 last year. While he is coming off a loss to Farkhad Sharipov at Titan FC 42, a win over Chico Camus would almost certainly catch the eyes of UFC matchmakers Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard.

A staple of the Roufusport MMA Academy in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Camus is a very well-rounded fighter. His durability, toughness and ability to take it to his opponent wherever the fight goes has made him a difficult out for any opponent. Whitney, on the other hand, relies mostly on his striking game, winning six bouts thus far in his seven-year MMA career via knockout. His boxing is his biggest asset, both offensively and defensively.

Neither fighter significantly overshadows the other in any facet of the game, so look for the two combatants to be willing to take the fight to the floor or to stand and trade. Regardless of where the fight does end up, one thing is apparent: this bout will not disappoint.

Also on the card is veteran heavyweight Parnell Davis (8-3) -- who competes for the Driller MMA Heavyweight Championship -- against the up-and-coming Maurice Greene. Davis has a great submission game, which is rare, but coveted, in the heavyweight division. He'll look to rebound after having a three-fight winning streak streak snapped earlier this year. His opponent "Mo" Greene is riding a three-fight win streak of his own, most recently competing at LFA 19, where he submitted Jermaine McDermott in the first round.

No Mercy VI takes place Saturday, September 30, from the Shooting Star Event Center in Mahnomen, Minnesota. The 17-bout card -- yes, you read that correctly--17 bouts! -- airs live and exclusively right here on FloCombat, beginning at 6:30 PM ET.
