Rematch For Bragging Rights Holds Co-Main Event For Mecca X
Anytime two fighters run things back for a rematch, there's always a little something extra on the line. Pride, bragging rights, or basic revenge are all elements at play, and Derek Getzel and Billy Christianson are going for the entire deck when they square off in the co-main event at Driller Promotions Presents Mecca X this Saturday in Shakopee, MN, on FloCombat.

The two lightweights initially did battle just over two years back under a different promotional banner, with Getzel putting a stamp on the meeting with a second-round knockout over Christianson, who took the bout on short notice and paid for his decision. The bearded warrior would rebound with back-to-back victories, but another rough spell would serve to cool any momentum he built in the process.

Fast forward two years and Christianson will be looking to not only get revenge for his loss back in 2015 but also use the fight with Getzel to put him back on track to reaching one of the biggest stages in mixed martial arts. And Getzel will very much be looking to do the same.

After defeating Christianson at Legacy 43, Getzel went on to drop two straight showings inside the cage. The No. 7-ranked lightweight in the state of Minnesota and Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt is determined to prove he's more than what his record shows on paper and believes another victory over Christianson will go a long way toward proving what he's worth.

And while there is plenty of mutual respect between the two, the leather will be flying with the worst of intentions when the cage door closes behind them on Saturday night.
