Mixed martial arts is an unforgiving sport where the worst possible results can sometimes come to call. The unfortunate became reality on Tuesday morning when an amateur MMA fighter lost his life.

Rondel Clark, a 26-year-old amateur fighter, passed away at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth, MA, where he'd been admitted following his fight at Cage Titans 35 on Saturday night. Clark suffered a TKO in the third round of the fight and was stretchered out of the cage and taken to the hospital.

There has yet to be an official statement released as to the cause of Clark's death, but investigations from the state police, local police, and Massachusetts State Athletic Commissions are pending, per a report from ESPN.
