Jason 'Mayhem' Miller Goes Corporate, Clown Prince Of MMA Ready For Chaos
Jason "Mayhem" Miller is one of the most enigmatic and entertaining fighters to ever step foot in a mixed martial arts cage.

A number of high-profile legal battles over the past few years have shifted the focus away from his impressive MMA record and more toward his criminal record. Miller has made a number of life changes in order to get back on the right track and right some of the wrongs from his turbulent past.

One such change is his involvement with the Stop B4U Start program, a group that travels to schools to speak to young people about making good choices while promoting open communication with their parents. Miller, with his high profile professional success, a checkered personal past and current good standing is the perfect man for the job.

"I speak at high schools about the dangers of drugs and alcohol," Miller told FloCombat. "You have to educate the kids. They are on the internet seeing God knows what. I think having a real face of somebody who has been through some bad times and understands what leads to that will help them. I want to help them find their purpose and to live with purpose. We are trying to usher in a new generation of great Americans."

For a person who seems to be a better fit in a fight club than a boardroom, Miller is, in a sense, going corporate. He plans to add his signature flair and personality to the promotional side of the fight game with the creation of Mayhem Miller Industries, a company building a network of fighters, putting on live events, offering a clothing brand and serving up podcast shenanigans. Although he is holding his cards close to his vest, one can expect a Tyler Durden level of chaos when the time is right.

"It's a madhouse," Miller said. "It doesn't stop. From night till dawn and so on and so on. It just keeps rocking. We are setting a live event this summer. It's going to be a unique experience. I'm a born showman, but it's the people around me now that are working so hard to see MMI succeed. It gives me such confidence to boast on Instagram or Snapface. I feel the love from the internet."

There has never been a professional athlete in any sport that has lived up to their nickname more than the North Carolina native. Miller was one of the fighters from an earlier era that understood the importance and value in branding himself. He marketed himself like few others in the history of the fight game.

That marketing mindset lead to huge opportunities and success in television, movies and other entertainment avenues. The inspiration and foundation of that persona was found early on.

"It was 1980's marital arts movies," Miller said. "Bloodsport was my bible. I took it to heart. I did martial arts on and off as a child. I got serious about it around 16. I became really focused on my craft. That age of the WWF and those 80's action movies combined with enough Tae Kwon Do classes gave me this feeling that I could walk the earth like Caine in Kung Fu and go and try to defeat better and better opponents and test myself every day."

Always the entertainer, Miller recently found his way in front of the new bright lights of standup comedy. His natural quick wit and comedic timing could lead to a successful run in the ever-changing realm. As with everything in Miller's life, he's not just testing the waters...he is diving right in.

"I'm not dipping my toes," Miller said. "I did a cannon ball into a black room the other night. You could feel the tension. It was like I was wearing a Donald Trump shirt. At the end of the night everyone had a great time. It was all in good fun. Comedy is an art form very similar to jiu-jitsu. It's more akin to interpretive dance with your mouth. It's a skill that I crafted similarly to jiu-jitsu by verbally grappling with the best comedians. If you are with Joe Rogan enough you better get funny."

With so many irons in the fire, one might wonder what the future holds for Miller's fist fighting career inside the locked door of the cage. His focus now is getting his Dana White on but hasn't ruled out the idea of fighting under his own banner.

"We will have a Mayhem Miller Industries Fight Night," Miller said. "I have shifted my focus toward promotions and bringing up the next generation but I am not ruling it out. I love fighting and I will fight in Denny's parking lot for the right amount of money. It's just a matter of doing the right deal and putting on the show people want to see. That's what's important to me."
