UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley is expected to return to the cage this upcoming July, but who he'll be fighting is still anyone's guess.

In between filming scenes for NBC's Nightshift, Woodley announced via the FOX Sports: PROcast that he would be returning to the cage for a fight in July.

Speculation has been rampant since the announcement, with names ranging from Conor McGregor and Georges St. Pierre, to a returning Nick Diaz or the winner of the upcoming Jorge Masvidal versus Damian Maia bout.

"There's a lot of fighters who say 'I'll fight anybody, anytime, anywhere,' but they really don't mean that," Woodley told UFC Unfiltered with Jim Norton and Matt Serra. "If Conor McGregor wanted to fight me, he has the opportunity to do so. So does (Michael) Bisping. So does Georges St. Pierre. So does Nick Diaz. So does Nate Diaz."

One person we know that it won't be is Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson.

"Someone asked me 'Hey man, what about the trilogy?' I said 'You don't want to watch that, I don't want to watch that. That mother*cker would have to walk on water for me to pull up and fight him again," Woodley told UFC Unfiltered. "He's gonna have to go on a nice little win streak for that to happen again. I'm really glad I can get back to fighting a regular motherf*cker."

Thompson and Woodley fought in November of 2016 and March of 2017. The first bout was a classic, close contest that resulted in a fight of the year candidate but ended in a draw. The second was one of the worst title fights in recent memory, with both fighters refusing to engage. Woodley was able to take a close, controversial unanimous decision.

"Well let me tell you the strategy for anybody I face: Whip they ass," Woodley told UFC Unfiltered. "To be honest and to be quite frank, my most difficult opponents are behind me style-wise. Wonderboy was a pain in the ass to train for, a pain in the ass to fight."

There are plenty of intriguing bouts to be had in the UFC's welterweight division, historically one of the company's most stacked weight classes.
