Former UFC and Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold is none too happy with the UFC’s decision to award Georges St. Pierre a fight with current middleweight champion Michael Bisping.

Rockhold spoke with TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter at UFC 210, where he was in attendance to support training partner and event headliner Daniel Cormier. During the interview, Rockhold discussed the current middleweight division and his desire to fight all-time great Anderson Silva at UFC 212.

“I’m tired of what’s going on,” Rockhold said of St. Pierre receiving a title shot. “It’s pretty sad to see the route they’ve taken, and I’m ready to go back there and correct the situation.”

When Bronsteter asked if Rockhold thought St.Pierre would stay in the division with a win, the California native rolled his eyes.

“No, Georges isn’t going to fight anyone in the middleweight division; You guys know that, we all know that, Georges knows that,” Rockhold said. “He’s going to fight Bisping, if that fight even happens. Georges isn’t going to fight any of us there, you know that Georges is going to go back down if he does happen to win. (He’s a) Great fighter, it just doesn’t make any sense.”

In March, top contender Romero called for an interim title fight while Bisping fights St. Pierre. Rockhold agreed with Romero’s idea that an interim title fight would be justified.

“Two irrelevant title fights back-to-back is just stupid. Dan (Henderson) was one thing, but this is a joke here,” Rockhold said. “If that was on the table (an interim title fight with Romero), I’d gladly take it. I think he feels the same way.”

But before then, Rockhold is eyeing a bout with Silva at UFC 212. The bout was originally supposed to be Silva against Kelvin Gastelum, but Gastelum was flagged by USADA for marijuana and pulled from the bout.

Rockhold said that he has accepted the fight and the fight is “seemingly more and more likely as the day goes on.”
