The greater Pittsburgh area's best mixed martial artists take the cage at 7:00 pm EDT Saturday, Dec. 17, for Pinnacle Fighting Championships (Pinnacle FC) 15.

A premier regional MMA promotion, Pinnacle FC has churned out current UFC stars such as Cody Garbrandt, Adam Milstead, and Paul Felder.

And the next wave is coming Saturday.

Standout bantamweight and featherweight champion Dominic Mazzotta returns to action, putting an eight-fight winning streak and his 145-pound strap on the line. During his current run, Mazzotta has finished seven opponents via submission, most recently inducing unconsciousness in his FloCombat debut via guillotine choke.

At 11-1, Mazzotta's sole slip up came against the current UFC bantamweight title challenger Garbrandt in March of 2014. One more win against Solon Staley, the number-one ranked featherweight in South Carolina, Saturday, and it's likely the UFC comes calling his name.

Similarly, one of Pittsburgh's longest-running superstars Mark Cherico (10-1) returns to action. Like Mazzotta, Cherico has lost just once in his career, and he's bringing a three-fight winning streak to the table Saturday in a heated grudge match against Anthony Castillo, Jr.
