It's hard to believe after witnessing the performance we did on Saturday night but Donald Cerrone wasn't having a great day before his sensational win over Rick Story at UFC 202.

Cerrone defeated Story via TKO after a four-strike combination that looked like something out of a video game. After delivering a short left and then follow up right to the liver, Cerrone continued his combination a follow-up left hook and then a head kick as Story staggered away and fell to his knees.

It was a beautiful finish, and it marked Cerrone's third straight win fighting at welterweight.

Speaking at a post-fight media scrum after the fight, Cerrone revealed just how unbelievable his performance was given how badly his day was going prior to the fight.

"I just woke up with the worst headache I've ever had," Cerrone said. "All day I was just laying in bed tired, my shoulders were sore and everything that was going wrong was just going wrong. I forgot the key to my Harleys so my Harleys are out there stuck now. It was just a f*cked up day."

Cerrone the revealed the choice of words that his coaches from Team Jackson-Winkeljohn said to him to get him through and how they picked him up and motivated to compete that evening.

"I was with my coaches in the back and it was just like grinding metal trying to get through first gear--I just couldn't do it," Cerrone said. "Greg [Jackson] just said 'This is what we have been training for, man, to beat someone on your worst day, so go out there and get it f*cking done and beat the storm, Cowboy,' so that was good.

"Some days you are on and some days you aren't. It's weird but it was good to go out there and figure it out and work through the kinks in the cage."

Before and after the fight, Cerrone was vocal about wanting his next fight to take place in New York City against Eddie Alvarez for the UFC lightweight title at UFC 205.

Having always been one to play the company man role and take the fights the UFC presents, Cerrone now believes that it's about time he calls the shots and pursues the opportunities he wants the most.

"Normally I just say I'll take anyone, anywhere and that I don't care who I'll fight next," Cerrone said. "The UFC always tells us if you want a f*cking fight, let us hear about it so god*amn it, there I am letting someone hear about it.

"I think that was my thirty-third or thirty-second walk for Zuffa but f*ck, it's time man, let's start making some calls and making some moves. That's kinda where I'm at."

He later reiterated his desire to compete in the Big Apple.

"I want to fight in New York really badly," Cerrone said. "Whatever avenue I take to get on the New York card, that's all I want. That's in a couple of months, and that's plenty of turnaround time for me. To be on the first card in the Garden it'd be awesome, epic, just epic."
