Valor Fights made its Cookesville, Tenn., debut Saturday evening with Valor Fights 34.

In the main event, Zack Hicks wasted no time in taking Rahshun Ball to the mat, where he worked some ground-and- pound. Some solid shots forced Ball to give up his back, and the deed was done from there.

Hicks sunk in the choke, and the fight was done—first-round rear-naked choke for Hicks ends the night in fashion.

Things took a little longer to wrap up in the night’s co-main event. Cromwell Stewart showed massive heart and determination against Kenny Hill, but it was ultimately for naught. Hill dominated the bout’s first round with his superior striking, and Round 2 was more of the same in the early-goings.

Hill then sealed the deal in Round 3…or so it appeared. After clipping Stewart early, Hill swarmed with ground-and- pound, and the ref intervened. While it looked like a TKO victory for Hill, the ref stepped in to instead warn Hill to watch the shots to the back of the head. A point was deducted from Hill, and Stewart was given an opportunity to recover. After the restart, Hill earned mount after the takedown, then the referee stood them up—yes, from mount. Again, Hill ended up in top position after the reset, and he rode out the fight inside Stewart’s full guard.

After three rounds of action, the judges saw the fight 28-28, for a draw. Whacky stuff.
