Da'Mon Blackshear: The Diamond Will Shine At Warfare MMA 16
Mixed martial arts is a sport where everything is new until it isn't. The life of a prospect sees things happen in a fast and furious manner, with each new experience logged in a system where all data has to be processed and placed.

Da'Mon Blackshear is taking in everything he can get his hands on, and the most promising factor is he's hungry for more.

The talented featherweight prospect has found success in all four of his showings as a professional with all but one of those wins coming by way of finish. Blackshear has looked damn-near unstoppable throughout, and that's a credit "The Diamond" gives to the teammates and coaches on the grind with him daily.

"Pressure makes diamonds and that's why my coach gave me the nickname," Blackshear told FloCombat. "He said I'm a diamond in the rough, and he was going to make me shine. We've been putting in the work and loving that pressure. That's where I work best."

While Blackshear has dominated the competition so far in his career, it's imperative to his growth that each fight brings a tougher type of test. When he squares off with Keith Richardson at Warfare MMA 16 on Saturday in Myrtle Beach, SC, Blackshear will face a fighter with nearly triple his experience inside the cage.

This will create precisely the type of test Blackshear is looking for, and he's fired up to get inside the Warfare cage for another go.

"I wouldn't take a fight if it wasn't going to be a challenge because that's what I'm all about," Blackshear said. "I challenge myself with everything I do, and I love the tests I get in MMA. I love the progress I make when I'm doing this sport, and that's literally the reason I'm doing it. I know there is a challenge waiting for me every time I step into the cage, and that's what I get excited for.

"[Richardson] has a ton of experience and has put his time into the sport. He's been in the fight game for awhile now, and this is a great exposure fight for me."

With a solid amount of buzz building around his profile, the fighter once dubbed "Little Debo" for his knack for scrapping in his elementary days, is very close to breaking through onto a much larger stage. That said, Blackshear believes everything will happen when it's supposed to, and he'll simply keeping winning fights until that phone rings.

"I'm working my way up and I'm not rushing anything," Blackshear said. "I'm getting my experience in right now because once I hit the big stage it's on. Whenever I get the call, I get the call. I'm training hard and improving every day."
