Frankie Edgar has clear intentions for his next fight and he's aiming straight away at his target.
 
With Max Holloway defeating Jose Aldo to become the undisputed featherweight champion at UFC 212 on Saturday night, the fighting pride of Toms River, New Jersey wants his shot at the new king of the 145-pound ranks and the gold he's carrying.

The former lightweight champion has notched back-to-back wins which have included defeating a tough powerhouse in Jeremy Stephens and derailing a highly touted Yair Rodriguez at UFC 211 to put himself back into title contention after suffering a loss to Aldo at UFC 200 last July.
 
While Edgar knows he's not alone in the conversation of getting the next shot at Holloway, he believes he'll be the more appealing fight to a champion who is always on a mission to show and prove.  If Holloway wants to rule the featherweight division, then Edgar has an open invitation for the young titleholder to prove it.
 
"I've been fighting the best competition fight after fight only high ranked guys," Edgar told FloCombat in an exclusive interview. "I'm the only one Max hasn't fought yet. If Max wants to be this dominant champion and clear the division he would have to face me.  I'd imagine he would want to test himself against someone like myself and not someone he has already finished."
 
To further open the appeal for the next title fight, Edgar additionally shared his willingness to travel Holloway's home state to scrap. The 25-year-old has long lobbied for Hawaii to host a UFC event, and Edgar threw down the gauntlet with force by suggesting he's down to bring the fight directly to Holloway's front door.
 
Edgar has already clean swept one Hawaiian legend in B.J. Penn, and it seems he has his sights set on the young prince turned warrior king of the Islands.
 
"I saw Max says he'd like to add another former champ to his list," Edgar said. "I wouldn't mind fighting in Hawaii and conquering the king in his own land."
