"The Iceman” Chuck Liddell might be set to melt the hearts of so many longtime mixed martial arts fans.

After talks from trainer John Hackleman that the UFC light heavyweight legend was considering a return to mixed martial arts during a recent Anik and Florian Podcast, the former champion gave TMZ a simple “We’ll see” when pressed on a yes or no in regards to returning to the cage.

“I don’t know. I’m not really a betting man,” Liddell said at first, before adding a “We’ll see,” accompanied by a mischievous smirk.

After a dominating run through the 205-pound division that included victories over Tito Ortiz, Randy Couture, Renato “Babalu” Sobral and Jeremy Horn, Liddell lost five of his last six bouts as a professional. His last fight was a first-round knockout loss to Rich Franklin in June of 2010.

In the interim, Liddell served as the vice president of business development before new UFC management gave him the axe.

Liddell isn’t the only retired fighter who has recently shown interest in returning to MMA. After Vitor Belfort’s proposed idea for a Legends League of some sort, Matt Hughes recently spoke with Joe Buck, hinting that a fight with Royce Gracie could be on the horizon.

TMZ also asked Liddell if he’d like to see Nick and Nate Diaz back in the cage.

“I hope so, I like watching those guys fight, man," Liddell said. "They’re both fun to watch.”
