Long time fans of welterweight tough guy Mike Perry may have noticed an addition to his tattoo collection during his UFC stint.

During an interview on UFC Unfiltered with Jim Norton and Matt Serra, Perry discussed the face tattoo above his left eye that has made him a fan favourite to many on social media.

Host and former UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra asked Perry about when he decided to get the tattoo, which says Platinum.

“After my UFC debut. Once y’all putt me on camera I was like ‘that’s it, I’m getting them,’” Perry said. “It was after my UFC debut, I was like ‘y’all let me in, I done shocked the world. Now that you let me in I’m gonna shock them again and get a tattoo on my face. I’m gonna keep shocking y’all.’”

Perry made his UFC debut at UFC 202 in August of 2016, knocking out Hyun Gyu Lim in the first round. It was between then and his impressive knockout of Danny Roberts at UFC 204 that Perry got the face tattoo.

“All my tattoos have to do with fighting because I dedicated my life to this a long time ago,” Perry said.

Most recently, Perry impressed the MMA world with a devastating knockout of Jake Ellenberger at UFC Fight Night 108.

Perry has a plethora of tattoos, including a “God’s Gift” tattoo across his abdomen, a chest tattoo including a cross, a hand tattoo resembling a dog’s mouth and a slew of tattoos down both of his arms.

Here’s hoping he fully commits to a larger face tattoo in the near future.
