UFC 210 Results: Gegard Mousasi Defeats Chris Weidman Via Controversial TKO
The co-main event at UFC 210 between Chris Weidman and Gegard Mousasi came with tremendous stakes on the line.

The former middleweight champion came into the tilt on a two-fight skid that desperately needed to be turned around. The Dutch striker rolled into Buffalo on a four-fight winning streak, but did so on the final fight of his contract with the UFC. And despite what a crucial fight it was, the ending will be mired in controversy.

Both Weidman and Mousasi had moments of success during the first two rounds based largely on their respective strengths. Weidman worked a wrestling-heavy attack and landed three solid takedowns, and Mousasi scored at range with his striking. And it was that striking that put the former titleholder in deep trouble midway through the second round.

Mousasi stung Weidman with a big shot that put the New Yorker on the defensive. Mousasi poured it on strong and as he attempted to take Weidman down, the former Strikeforce champion delivered two big knees that the referee initially deemed illegal. Immediate replay showed the knee strikes were completely legal, but that didn't stop the referee from getting the cageside doctors and commission inside the cage.

Confusion reigned for several minutes until the fight was officially waved off and Mousasi was granted the TKO victory he clearly earned.

It was pure insanity and the controversy will hang over a fight that should have moved the winner forward in the title hunt at 185-pound division.
