Pat Healy, Vinny Magalhaes Discuss Injuries Keeping Them Off ACB 54
Pat Healy and Vinny Magalhaes discuss the injuries that will keep them out of ACB 54.
ACB 54 goes down Saturday, March 11, in Manchester, England, but the fight card will be without two of its most notable competitors.
Lightweight Pat Healy and light heavyweight Vinny Magalhaes both suffered injuries in the lead up to the event, and they will no longer participate in the night's festivities.
"I sprained my pinky and got a micro fracture in my pinky knuckle," Healy told FloCombat. "I lost control carrying a 5/8 piece of plywood and smashed my right hand at work. It happened almost a month ago and I pulled out of the fight after I saw the doctor shortly after. I hope to return soon. I've been getting a lot of treatment on it and have been able to grapple again. Hopefully I will be able to strike with that hand by next week."
Similarly, Magalhaes revealed he suffered an injury, but unlike Healy, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu superstar decided to keep the nature of it under wraps.
"Last Monday I got injured training," Magalhaes told FloCombat. "The doctor told me to stay out of training and get back to his office for a re-evaluation in six weeks. As far as when I will be able to train or fight, it all depends on my progress in six weeks. If the injury heals up on its own, maybe I'll start training in six weeks. If surgery is needed, then I don't know how long it will take for me to get back. I don't want to disclose the injury though."
ACB 54 features a megawatt main event between Venator FC middleweight champion and former UFC competitor Luke Barnatt and KSW middleweight king Mamed Khalidov.
