Alexander Gustafsson may have only just had his next fight lined up last Friday, but it only took a matter of hours before the Swede was being linked to another bout instead.

Shortly after the UFC announced that the former UFC light heavyweight contender would face Jan Błachowicz on September 3rd at UFC Hamburg, it was reported that Anthony Johnson was going to be unable to face Glover Teixeira at UFC on Fox 20 on July 23rd. The UFC stated they were seeking a replacement, and Gustafsson's name suddenly began to swirl around the MMA community.

Gustafsson confirmed to FloCombat on Monday he would be prepared to step in if the UFC called him with the right offer.

"No one from the UFC has called me about it yet but yeah I'd take the fight on short notice," Gustafsson said. "Look, as long as I'm getting paid for it, I'd take a short notice fight against anyone. I'm in great shape, I've been training every day since my last fight so if the UFC decide they want me to face Glover then I'm ready so let's go"

The Swede's willingness to take a short notice fight didn't stop there. Gustafsson's desire to get himself back in the UFC light heavyweight title picture that he reiterated the same feelings when asked about another high profile tilt. Gustafsson said he would fill in for either Daniel Cormier or Jon Jones should one of them be unable to compete in the main event of UFC 200 on July 9th.

"I feel exactly the same way," Gustafsson said. "If the UFC came to me with the right money and the right terms then I'd definitely take the fight. I just can't wait to fight now. I've been away for a couple of months and I'm booked to fight Jan Blachowicz but if they wanted me to face Jones or Cormier on short notice I'd do it. I'm a fighter, I'd fight anyone for the right money."

Should the UFC 200 main event stay together and Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier make it to the Octagon on July 9th, rather than be disappointed he's not competing, Gustafsson sad he was going to enjoy watching from the sidelines and that he expected a highly competitive fight.

"I'm really looking forward to watching this fight at UFC 200," Gustafsson said. "Watching them fight each other for the second time, it's going to be great. There's no point me thinking that it could be me in there. I just think it should be a really good fight and it's a great match-up that I'm looking forward to seeing."
